22 Former Celebrities Who Have Normal Jobs Now

If you're anything like me, when you were a kid, all your favorite actors and actresses lived glamorous lives. They spent their days driving fancy cars, eating at restaurants that weren't meant for normal people, and living in mansions with swimming pools. But what happens when your career comes to an end? What do you do now if the mansion is lost?

Thankfully, not every former celebrity spends their life in ruin! This post is about those who have successful normal jobs now — some even as teachers! It's inspiring to see these celebrities use their fame to help other people, whether it be through teaching or mentoring.

1. Shailene Woodley

Shailene was the star of The Secret Life of the American Teenager and played Mary Anne Spier, one of the most beloved characters on television. But after that show ended in 2014, Shailene was at a loss for what to do next. After appearing in various other shows, she started her education platform called Earthx, where people get together to talk about environmental issues and how humanity can be better for the planet. It's cool stuff!

2. Jenna Fischer

Jenna Fischer played Pam Beesly on The Office from 2005 – 2013. After the show ended, she hosted an About.com series called "Office Ladies", where she interviewed different women in various lines of work, talking about how they got there and what they do daily. It's great stuff!

3. Jennifer Grey

Jennifer Grey played Frances "Baby" Houseman in the classic 1987 film Dirty Dancing (OK, maybe it's not so classic now, but it was!) Of course, you know her as the cute blonde who used to dance with Patrick Swayze. After the film ended in 1987, she moved to New York and started dancing herself. She won the Disco Ball Dance competition in 1993 and made it to the top 16 of that year's World Professional Ballroom Dancing championships. Jennifer has also appeared in various other shows like The Wayans Bros. and has a successful acting career where she has played Annie on Grey's Anatomy and a few other people. It's great to see her dancing, though; that must be amazing!

4. Christina Applegate

Christina played Kelly Bundy on Married with Children and Vicky in Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead! After Vicky ended in 1991 and Married with Children was canceled 2 years later, Christina tried to make a come-back with some other series like Samantha Who? and Bad Judge, but so far, nothing has stuck quite as her old shows have. She is still pretty popular, though, and made her return to television in the Netflix show Grace and Frankie.

5. Jamie Lee Curtis

Jamie Lee played Laurie Strode from 1978 until 1989 in the Halloween franchise! And after that, she went on to have a successful career in T.V. movies and movies like True Lies, where she played a spy who had been captured by terrorists but then escaped again by creating havoc throughout a building! She also had a hit movie called The Bad News Bears with Ben Schwartz as her son. And since then, Jamie has also become an advocate for mental health awareness. She told New York magazine in 2014 that "having a mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of, and my goal is to let these kids know that it's just like diabetes or cancer. I want them to know it doesn't mean you're crazy."

6. Sean Astin

In Lord of the Rings, Sean played Mikey Walsh in The Goonies and Samwise Gamgee! After those movies ended, he started working on unique projects like 24, The West Wing, Big Love, and Sons of Anarchy. He has also interviewed students to help encourage them to stay in school and do something meaningful with their lives.

7. Jaleel White

Jaleel played Steve Urkel on Family Matters from 1989 – to 1998! He's probably most known for his incredible Urkel voice, where he would often break glasses by talking too loudly, but also because he said, "Did I do that?" at the end of almost every episode! Then, after the series ended, he tried to start a D.J. career, but it didn't work out — which is fair enough since D.J.'s are meant to be good at mixing and stuff, and it doesn't look like Jaleel has practiced mixing much before starting his career as one. Jaleel still gets to have fun, though, because he's recently been seen in many episodes of Baby Daddy, and he also works as a voice actor for video game characters!

8. Kelsey Grammer

Kelsey Grammer played Dr. Frasier Crane in Cheers and Frasier. After Frasier ended in 2004 (heh), Kelsey decided to take a break from acting and focused more on other projects. He has also become involved in politics as a Republican and is now a conservative radio talk show host who supports anti-abortion policies and limited government control.

9. Jennifer Love Hewitt

Jennifer played Sarah Reeves Merrin in I Know What You Did Last Summer and Amanda Beckett in the T.V. series Ghost Whisperer. Since then, she hasn't done anything all that exciting! She became more popular once she joined some T.V. series like The Client List, but I think it'd be cool for her to come out of retirement for more work. She has worked in a lot of book series.

10. Kirk Cameron

Kirk is probably most known for playing Mike Seaver on Growing Pains, but he was also in Like Father Like Son with Dudley Moore and Fireproof, which came out in 2008. After all that, Kirk has gone on to start the evangelical ministry called The Way of the Master. He has also made appearances in other Christian films like Aliens Ate My Homework. He describes himself as a Christian evangelist and says, "I don't think you can be a real Christian without evangelizing." I think that's great!.

Rhea played Carol Willick on Cheers from 1982 – 1993! She was also in probably one of the most popular shows – Friends! She had parts in some movies, including The Word, American Pie, and The Man Who Knew Too Little. Rhea has also worked with several organizations, such as the Cabbage Patch Kids Cancer Foundation and the United Cerebral Palsy. As you can see, she's been busy since ending her run on Cheers!

15. Sherri Shepherd

Sherri played Veronica on Less Than Perfect from 2002 – 2006! She was also in the film Jumping Jack Flash, and she was a guest star on Boston Legal! After that, she got a role on 30 Rock as D'Fawn. She currently works on television as one of the hosts of The View with Jenny McCarthy, Whoopi Goldberg, and Paula Faris!

In 2001, Levy moved to L.A. and started working as a construction worker.

20. Tina Fey

Tina Fey is a funny actress working today. She is currently starring in the sitcom "Great News," which she created with her husband, Robert Carlock. She has appeared in films like "Mean Girls," "Date Night," and "Muppets Most Wanted." Fey has worked on hit T.V. shows like "Saturday Night Live" and "30 Rock". She has won several awards for her comedy, including the Emmy Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, Golden Globe Award, and Peabody Award. However, Fey is not nearly as rich as you would think. She is currently working at a non-profit organization where she helps low-income families.

21. Christopher Knight

Christopher Knight was one of the main characters in the '80s sitcom "The Brady Bunch," which ran from 1969 to 1974. The show was top-rated at the time, making him a star.
